ICE Continuing Education Courses
ICE courses are highly sought after by licensees because we allow for a variety of learning styles. When you take our courses, you set your schedule. Please note:
  • ICE courses may be used for all of the required 30 hours.
  • ICE courses must be completed using the Internet; complete all lessons for each course.
  • Your Final Exam must also be taken on-line.
  • You pass your Final Exam with a grade of 70% or better. If you do not pass your first Final Exam with a grade of 70% or better you are permitted 1 retake. A detailed analysis of your Final Exam results is available on-line.
  • All Final Exams are graded immediately, and the Completion Certificate is provided on-line for printing.
  • Your ICE Completion Certificate must be acknowledged on-line verifying that you alone did the work.
Satisfying MN State Requirements
30 credit hours of Continuing Education is required every 2 years, including a minimum of 15 credit hours which must be completed within the first 12 months of each renewed license period.
  • You must complete the core course, "Minnesota Agency & Disclosure plus Fair Housing" once every two years. Build your 15 hours using the available electives.
  • If your license expires June 30, 2010 - complete a total of 30 credit hours: 15 credit hours completed not later than 6/30/2009 & 15 credit hours by 6/30/2010. The state would prefer that you apply for your license renewal by June 15, 2010, but the actual deadline is June 30, 2010.
  • If your license expires on June 30, 2011 - complete 15 credit hours no later than June 30, 2010.
  • If you are licensed as a salesperson, you need to deliver your course Completion Certificates to your broker on or before the above June 30 deadlines.

Fulfilling State Time Requirements
When you navigate through a course, there is a timer in the upper right-hand corner that suggests how long you should spend on that lesson. We recommend that you allow the timer to run down to 0:00 in order to maximize your time; if you choose to disregard the timer and you complete the lessons in less than the suggested time, then when you are done with all of the lessons, you must stay active in a Review Session of questions that must be answered with at least 70% accuracy until you satisfy the time requirement as approved by the State of Minnesota.

For a 3-hour course, you must remain active in the course for 120 minutes, and you have 30 minutes to complete the final exam. For a 6-hour course, you must remain active in the course for 240 minutes, and you have 60 minutes to complete the final exam.
Real Estate License Number Verification
The Minnesota Commerce Department is now using Pulse Portal to track your CE credits. It is very important that you are using your exact license number AS RECORDED IN THE STATE'S COMPUTER, otherwise your regulators will not see your ICE credits and will think you did not do your CE.

There is a new feature on your ICE desktop for verifying your license number. It will save you lots of time. Remember, it's your responsibility to provide ICE with a good and valid license number.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who Is ICE?
ICE is a school that specializes in Continuing Education for professional license renewal. We are licensed in many states, and are now approved by the Minnesota Department of Commerce. ICE specializes in distance learning education using the Internet for delivery.

How long are my courses available to me?
Your course(s) are available to you for six months from the date of your order. Presuming that a specific course is unfinished, once the expiration date is reached, that course is unavailable and must be repurchased.

I can't get to the Internet. Can I use ICE's courses to renew my real estate license?
No. ICE is only approved to provide Internet based courses in Minnesota.

How do ICE courses work?
Each ICE on-line course contains lessons. At the end of every lesson is a short quiz. You must answer every quiz question correctly to proceed into the next lesson. You can retake the quiz as many times as required in order to answer every question correctly. You will be informed if any question's answer is wrong.

Let the time run down to 0:00 for each lesson!

Do I have to download workbooks?
No. ICE provides the Internet training in workbook form only if you wish to review the course material when the Internet is not convenient or available. The workbook is identical to the on-line course lessons, and some people consider it easier to read than a computer's monitor. Workbooks, however, do NOT contain the on-line quizes.

When I use the Internet, it's only for a short time. Can I start-and-stop any course as many times as I want?
Yes. As you read through a course's lessons, your progress is automatically "bookmarked." If you read a few lessons, and are interrupted, the ICE course will start where you previously ended when you return to that course. You can start-and-stop any course (connect to the Internet) as many times as you want. You have up to six months to complete each course from the day of enrollment.

Can I read more than 1 course simultaneously?
Yes. Each course will have its own bookmark, so you can start any course at any time without having to finish another course.

Do I have to always use the same computer?
No. You can connect to the Internet using any device, log in using your ICE student number and password, and use your courses for as long as you want. Most people study at work during the day and at home in the evening and on weekends.

How do I know ICE is approved in Minnesota?
CLICK to visit the Minnesota Commerce Department web-site where ICE's home page is listed www.4ice.com

What happens when I finish a course's on-line lessons?
After you complete the last lesson and satisfy the time requirement for each ICE course, you are ready to take your Final Exam. It is available immediately on-line.

How long will it take me to complete 15 credit hours online?
The Minnesota Commerce Department allows a maximum of 8 credit hours per day. This means that the shortest duration for completing 15 credit hours is 3 consecutive days (one day each for two 6 hour courses and a third day for one 3 hour course).

What happens if I buy ICE courses, and don't like them?
ICE's Refund Policy All requests for any refund will be denied by ICE except where the following conditions are met:
  1. the student desires a refund for a course that has not expired past the initial order period of 180 days
  2. the online course version has not been completed
  3. for states where CE includes testing, the test or final exam has not been started online or mailed by ICE
  4. There are no refunds for workbook orders shipped via Priority Mail by ICE. Also, you are responsible for
notifying ICE within 30 days of ordering workbook(s) that you did not receive.

Due to increased banking fees, as of October 1, 2009, all refunds after 7 days of purchase will incur a $10.00 processing fee.

What courses should I take?
ICE currently has both 3 and 6 credit hour approved courses. Select your courses that total to the credit hours you need. Please note: MN Rule 2809.0060 Subp. 4 prohibits licensees from obtaining credit for the same course within your 2-year renewal period. ICE will help you choose courses based on this rule.

How do I order ICE courses?
You can order via the Internet at this web-site. Or you can order by fax, mail, or phone 800-621-8341 9-5 CST weekdays. Please call if you do not like buying anything over the Internet.

How do I pay for my courses?
ICE accepts all major credit cards. You can also pay by check.

If I order, what do I get?
Every course is delivered on-line via the Internet. You can also print your own course workbook using the following on-line files: Adobe Acrobat Reader®, or using your Internet browser.

If you prefer, you can also order a printed workbook from ICE. All workbooks are identical to the on-line course.
