Course Instructions for the Illinois Broker Management Course

The Illinois Broker Management Course is unique compared to the other continuing education courses offered by ICE. This course was created and authorized by the Illinois Real Estate Education Foundation (REEF). ICE is a licensed CE provider by IDFPR and the course is approved by IDFPR. ICE's instructor, Elizabeth Tigner, is a licensed CE instructor by IDFPR and has successfully completed the instructor training course sponsored by REEF.

WHY DOES THIS COURSE COST MORE MONEY THIS YEAR FROM ICE?

The Broker Management Course does NOT cost more money this year. ICE has not raised the price of the course, but has streamlined the process- the fee for this course includes the $41 REEF fee to grade the course. In the past, students paid this fee directly to REEF. Now, students pay this fee to ICE and we pay REEF directly. This takes one step away from you, the student, and allows you to focus solely on passing the final exam.

WHAT DO I NEED FOR THIS COURSE?

The required materials for the course are the Illinois Broker Management Course text AND the Supplement to the text. In addition, there is a PowerPoint presentation available for free to download from ICE once you purchase the course. Remember that in order to view this PowerPoint presentation, you must have Microsoft PowerPoint software.

HOW DO I PROCEED TO TAKE THIS COURSE?

You are free to read and study the course materials at your own pace. We strongly encourage you to revisit your student account at ICE to take the Sample Exam prior to taking the final exam for this course. If you read all of the material at your own pace, we are confident that you should pass the final exam.

Once your proctor is approved, ICE will wait ten (10) business days to mail USPS First Class the exam to the proctor. This will give the student plenty of time to read the materials and complete the sample test session.

WHAT ARE THE RULES FOR THE FINAL EXAM?

The test must be taken manually with a #2 pencil. All manual tests use the REEF Scantronix answer sheet and must be mailed by the proctor directly to REEF for grading. The exam, scantronix answer sheet, and course evaluation form will be sent to your proctor by ICE. Once you complete the test, your proctor will mail the test, Scantronix answer sheet, and completed evaluation to REEF. The proctor MUST send all of these back to REEF within two days of test completion or there will be a $100 fee of $250 per week fee, payable to REEF.

While you may reserve a time to test at ICE's office in Woodstock, Illinois, we realize that is impractical for many brokers throughout the state. Therefore, you may test with an ICE-approved proctor. Each proctor must complete an application form prior to their approval by ICE. A copy of this application is sent to IDFPR for all orders involving the Broker Management Course. A proctor must verify that he/she is a staff member of an approved education provider or professional organization, a librarian, a minister, an attorney, or anyone who is at least 21 years of age and is a disinterested party and not related to the student.

HOW DO I FIND OUT IF I PASS THE TEST?

If you pass the test, REEF will send out a postcard as a Certificate of Completion via USPS. Passing in Illinois is 70%. In the unlikely event that you do not pass the test, REEF will notify you via a letter in the mail (USPS) that you are allowed one retake of another test. Students must call ICE at 800-621-8341 and ask that the retake exam be sent to the proctor. There is no fee from either ICE or REEF for taking a retake exam. If you fail the retake exam, you must start over.

If you have any questions about navigating through the course or the content of the course, you may reach ICE and your instructor, Elizabeth Tigner, by either phone or via email at: 800-621-8341 and teacher@4ice.com.
