The intent of this course is to heighten awareness of and the need to become culturally prepared. This course will present a picture of the changing face of the real estate industry. The United States is a nation rich in cultural diversity, and the culturally competent real estate professional will be better prepared to serve the diverse local markets. Those who adapt to increasing cultural diversity in the market, and who wisely plan to meet the needs of diverse clients in their local markets, gain a competitive edge and expand opportunities. Each unique culture has their own values, customs, and real estate needs. It has become glaringly apparent that cross-cultural communication has become increasingly relevant in today's market. To become culturally competent, it's wise to first examine your own culture. For instance, what are your own stereotypes, assumptions, and biases? This course will present ideas on how to increase sensitivity and adaptability to these market trends, as well as communicate more effectively. Finally, discrimination has no place in the real estate market. Since Fair Housing is so closely related to cultural diversity, this course will also review the 'do's and don'ts' of real estate.
