About Commercial Leasing

This course is intended for anyone who wants to understand commercial leases. Any organization that occupies a building that it doesn't own is called a tenant. The building's owner (or the owner's real estate agent) is called a landlord. The contract between a tenant and a landlord is called a lease.

Commercial tenants are different than residential tenants. This course is only for commercial leases. Residential leases are for buildings that tenants call their personal home. Commercial leases are for offices, stores, factories: places where tenants work.
